The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Committee on Disarmament, Peace and Security has been offering services and facilities for past 30 years to numerous citizens’ groups that are concerned with the disarmament and peace activities of the United Nations. The committee is recognised for its distinguished efforts as a network clearing house, conference organizer, newspaper publisher, and UN liaison. It is regarded as a primary supporter of the international movement for peace, disarmament and arms control. It is designed to serve continually the world constituency.

It helps the NGOs in leveraging their expertise and ingenious proposals for the suitable decision-making Fora. It provides access to latest UN issues on disarmament, peace, and security. The NGO Committee on Disarmament, Peace and Security comprises of various major program areas such as NGO Coordination, Disarmament Times, Fora and Programs, Deweaponization and Civil Society, International networking and others.

The NGO Committee makes it easy for the NGOs to participate in formal disarmament meetings at the UN like the General Assembly First Committee debates, review meetings and others. The Disarmament Times is the only publication that is dedicated to provide complete and timely coverage of UN disarmament news for pressurising the governments in taking constructive action.

The NGO Committee on Disarmament, Peace and Security engages in panel discussion on arms control and disarmament issues. The Deweaponization and Civil Society (DEWs) aims at engaging the global civil society to be more proactive in preventing, and dealing with the recurring intra-state violence. The NGO committee is also actively involved in establishing the International Networking where the majority of NGOs interacts with each other and get to know of the details about any localised issues and it also helps in sharing the information related to their work.
